• April 17 - We will have the Peter Silberman Memorial Auction. Peter Silberman was the Business and National news editor at the Washington Post and died February 8 without any heirs. He was born in 1930 in Berlin and his family escaped to Shanghai in January 1939, thanks to a sympathetic Japanese diplomat who issued tons of visas to Jews to escape to Asia. He and his father collected stamps but his father had to sell his collection for the family's survival. Peter Silberman had an extensive collection and his executor was told to disperse it as she saw fit. She gave it to our club, so we will auction off the collection as a fundraiser.
